Re: Northwestern OCI 2018

Hi (anyone who has the slightest idea how this all works), I'm looking for some general rules of thumb before seeking feedback on my first attempt at a bid list. My target market is D.C. I know that bidding only on D.C. is a death wish, so I'm also bidding on Chicago and Texas firms. A few question...

Re: cravath, cravath lama sabachthani??

A lot of summers at my V5 have started to accept the fact that we might stay at 180. Firms don’t really have an incentive to match. Lol, what? Have you seen how 1Ls make decisions on firms? 190k vs 180k is absolutely vast. Simpson would honestly not know what to do with all the accepted offers they...

Re: Northwestern and cornell

i think this would come down to cost and feelings you have about the school. You'll basically have the same chance at NYC biglaw from either, i don't know if there is a smart way to parse the differences. It's true that less people from NU go to NYC, but i don't know if that makes it easier.

Re: Employment Statistics by School - C/O 2017 rolling out + C/O 2012-2016 data

Northwestern - 69.0% (171/248) (+0.3% from 2016) BL: 61.3% (152) FC: 7.7% (19) Sad! I'm also one of the "other" 31%, so I'm contributing to the sadness. Wonder how many JD-MBAs opted for the non-law route this year. Over the last 5 years, the JD-only BL+FC number has been between 1.5–5.4% higher th...

Re: Pre-OCI Interviews... how do you do them?

i had about the same grades, and wasn't even in new york. I had a ton of success with pre-oci offers in nyc last summer. I just emailed my resume and transcript to recruiters as soon as my grades came out, and only to about 6-7 firms in the V15 (based on what firms were active in the 2016 pre oci t...

Re: Harvard v. Stanford. v. Ruby @ Chicago

If you're talented enough to do well in 1L at harvard and are competitive for great clerkships, then you are talented enough to do well at UC and be competitive for great clerkships. only one of those schools comes with a massive discount. if you hate chicago, then reapply to columbia/nyu or somethi...
