Re: Feeder Judge Rankings

Not sure if Twerk is still around, but would love to see updates to the OP based on recently announced hires. Thanks!

Re: Overwhelmed: HYS or Ruby for PI?

I chose Yale over the Ruby. I think based on your stated goals, the Ruby is probably the way to go. But it's a little unclear what you mean by youth and family law. The answer might be slightly different depending on whether you plan to do direct representation of kids and their parents or whether y...

Re: PRETTIEST LAW SCHOOL AND LAW LIBRARY T-14ish

Both YLS and SLS are really getting the shaft in the poll. I guess maybe you could argue that the SLS law school building itself isn't as nice as the campus as a whole. But the courtyard at YLS is just stunning.

Re: Yale Student(s?) Answering Questions

Yale has a reputation for being somewhat cutthroat and competitive. Has that been your experience? That's interesting. I thought Yale had something of the opposite reputation: That its lack of grades and assured career outcomes eased the pressure and allowed students to live boldly in the law or so...

Re: Yale Student(s?) Answering Questions

I don't really buy that. I don't think conservatives at YLS are placed in a shroud of silence. And unfair labels and denigration certainly go both ways in modern politics. (I grew up in a very conservative area and encounter such things more than "rarely" from folks back home.) But it is probably tr...

Re: Yale Student(s?) Answering Questions

I'll also say, if the second half of my comment is not what you consider a culture of respect for opposing political views, then yeah, you would probably think that YLS doesn't have a culture of respect for opposing political views.

Re: Yale Student(s?) Answering Questions

Does Yale Law foster a culture of respect for wide ranging political opinions? Or is the prevailing "group think" orthodoxy stifling to some? I'll first caveat by saying that people at different points on the political spectrum would probably answer this question differently based on their perspect...

Yale Student(s?) Answering Questions

I don't think there is one of these for Yale yet, and I have some time to kill after finals, so fire away.

Re: Yale vs Columbia (w/ Hamilton) vs UChicago (w/ Ruby)

Thank you for this. If you don't mind me asking, why did you turn down the Rubenstein scholarship? And do you regret it at all? I turned down the Rubenstein scholarship because I felt like my goals were sufficiently unicorn-like (to use the buzzword popularized on this forum and its predecessor) to...

Re: Yale vs Columbia (w/ Hamilton) vs UChicago (w/ Ruby)

I'm a student at YLS who turned down the Rubenstein. It's pretty amazing how many people at YLS turned down full-rides. If you come to ASW, you'll likely get the (fairly accurate) impression that nearly everyone here turned down a full ride to another top school. But I agree with the posters above: ...

Re: Public Interest Megathread for T14s (employment data, resources, testimonials)

I don’t think you actually understand much about prosecution. The primary goal is to do justice. I realize I'm coming to this conversation way too late, and it's probably unwise to stir the pot again, but just lol at the above naïveté. Please spend like 15 minutes in a courthouse in New Orleans. Or...

Re: Clerks Taking Questions

Likely UVA matriculant here, and I'm shooting for an eventual SCOTUS clerkship - I realize it's the longest of long shots, but I figure it's a good goal. I'm nervous about getting the kind of professor connections it seems like you need - that was always a weak point for me in UG. Any suggestions? ...
