Re: Strong MBE = AUTO bar pass

Strong recommendation for autopass as a strategy. I don't know if what I did quite qualifies (in my state, I needed to be about 10th percentile in essays to pass, but in a state with a lower required score, I could have been a good bit lower). I'm not sure how bad the essays have to be to only make ...

How did remote administration affect the July 2021 bar exam?

So, I got bored and looked up some numbers. The short answer is, it doesn't seem to have changed things all that much. The movement we've seen in scores in states with remote bar exams really doesn't look that different from the movement in states with in-person bar exams this year, by comparison to...

Re: How many Ws are *too* many?

The most important things are the numbers, and it's not even close. Yes, that large a group of W's will give admission pause, but a decent addendum should ease any concerns. That and a 170+ LSAT should mitigate any risk from non-punitive W's.

Re: Brazilian student applying for law school

I think what people are trying to ask is: what are your career goals? admission in the US is based almost entirely on grades and LSAT score. the bulk of the employment is only attainable through graduates of the 13-15 top programs in the Country, and the remaining 200+ law schools are not worth the...

Re: Take A lower T14 (ex. Northwestern) NOW or Reapply?

Yeah, if you're financing with debt, I think an earlier application should at least get you a better scholarship offer at a lower T14. Your stats are very good, but you applied kinda late in a brutal cycle. Even in what will likely still be a tough cycle, the options available to you should be bette...

Are you financing law school with debt? What will you do this year if you don't go?

Re: Should I buy a LSAT Strategy Guide?

You do need to get some more recent PTs, from at least the 70s or 80s. Not sure how high they've published, but the RC in particular was getting tougher about the time I took mine (September 2017). If you find the RC from more recent years is more challenging, I found the Manhattan RC book helpful b...

Yeah, historically, your odds are good, though we don't know what the spike means for someone with your numbers. And of course, there might be a bigger scholarship a bit lower in the t13, so don't write the rest of them off.

Re: Employment Statistics by School - C/O 2020 rolling out + C/O 2012-2019 data

I wonder if there's a way to account for self-selection of HYS folks into elite PI, government, and other "unicorn" and top-flight outcomes. There may not be anything measurable. But maybe it's moot as BL+FC could easily be 100 percent at each of those schools if every student aimed for one of thos...

Re: Employment Statistics by School - C/O 2020 rolling out + C/O 2012-2019 data

We're now far enough along that I can present my rolling averages for the bulk of the schools that consistently place at least a quarter of their class in BLFC jobs. I might be missing a few around the edges, and I'm definitely missing this year's data for Howard, which is usually part of this group...

Re: Employment Statistics by School - C/O 2020 rolling out + C/O 2012-2019 data

Yeah, wouldn’t necessarily call 18.8 BLFC “average strength.” Still below average, even graded on the curve of the NYC market. 18.8 isn't just average, it's above average. There's a whole lot of schools that don't even punch in at 10% in a typical year. Cardozo has the disadvantage of proximity to ...

Re: PSA for 2021-22 Applicants: Avoid Notre Dame Like the Plague

Yeah, my own school was overenrolled in the year ahead of me. They dealt with it, in part, by offering significant scholarship bumps to folks willing to defer. Notre Dame could have honored its acceptances without creating a bank rush, if they were operating in good faith.
