Re: 150-->159 3.75 GPA

You start reaching "maybe" territory for GW/Emory/Fordham around 161. That crosses into coin toss territory at 162. By 164, you might be looking at a modest scholarship. 165 is where GW and Emory actually *want* you, and start flashing better than 50% scholarships to make it happen. You can do your ...

Re: 150-->159 3.75 GPA

With those numbers, you're probably not getting into Emory, GW, Fordham, or Florida (barring a waitlist miracle). FSU, Miami, and South Carolina are likely to take you, but not with the kind of scholarship money to make those good life choices (unless maybe if you're getting in-state tuition at Sout...

Re: Gray’s Guide to Government Honors Programs

FedGov folks, I just got two interviews for DOJ Honors. All will be remote this year. Any advice for interviewing in the time of covid? Both want writing samples now. One specifies a 15 page limit, while the other doesn't specify. Should I assume a 10 page limit for the mystery one, or consider subm...

Re: 3.1/167/Active Duty. Chicago/Secondary Market BL.

This scattershot application strategy is likely to give you a decent number of admissions, but after the top of the list, they get increasingly regional. If you're okay with the luck of the draw dictating which secondary cities you target post grad, that's fine, but you'll need to be prepared to con...

Re: T14 Chances + Scholarships?

Even if you feel the need to dip below Georgetown for a safety (Georgetown is kinda a safety for you), there's very little sense dipping below the Texas/UCLA/USC/Vanderbilt/WashU set unless you have a very specific reason to want to be in a particular city or study with a particular professor. UVA2...

Re: 3.4/167 (When to Apply)

If scores are released mid-September, there’s no need to apply before that. Any time before Halloween is early, and I’m not even sure apps open up much before September first. Mid-September will still be really early. (stay cool!) Mid-September is so early, some schools won't even have their apps o...

You'll be fine. I don't think MyLSN is letting me make images of the search results anymore, but here's a tight cluster around your stats: https://mylsn.info/iolp50/ You're probably not getting into HYS without a killer PS, but that's okay. You've got a good chance of going to a T13 with a scholarsh...

Re: Employment Statistics by School - C/O 2019 rolling out + C/O 2012-2017 data

NYU is currently linking to their own table of the stats rather than the ABA report, which they don't have linked yet. This required more multiplication than my usual calculation, but I'm pretty sure it's accurate. Utah Law has its report up, but fell below the 10% cutoff. ASU, BYU, Cardozo, Kentuc...

I think at this point you might want to look into careers that do not require a JD. Thanks. For nothin!! I know someone from my class at W&L restarted at Indiana after 1L, and a couple of folks transferred to FSU after three semesters. I didn't think either of those two things were possible until I...

Re: What are my chances? At 32 years old, Should I try to go to law-school. Please give me your honest feedback.

How did you get into a top 25 law school with a much worse gpa? With the right LSAT, plenty of folks with sub-3 GPAs get into good schools. I had an offer (but no scholly) from WashU. Several folks with 2.8x or 2.9x got into UVA, Penn, Northwestern, etc. in my cycle. Early applications help a lot, ...

Re: Iowa or Indiana (Maurer)?

The relative prestige of these schools is negligible. Both have similar employment outcomes, and neither could be described as a member of a meaningful grouping the other doesn't belong in. Prestige shouldn't be a factor here. The odds are that you won't practice international law, especially in the...

I don't think so - I applied at the beginning of January and got decent $$ from a few schools. November LSAT would be fine unless things have changed (in the six years since I applied haha). So I'd see how your practice test scores are doing right before November, and if you are consistently scorin...

Great work Stranger. Since the majority of these schools are regional, it might be interesting to also group them by region/feeder markets to gauge pre-COVID market health. Knowing what the PNW or SE is doing (broadly) by approximation of how UW or UGA are doing might show some interesting trendlin...

SLS takes a lead over YLS in the clerking numbers this year! Also LOL@ their defensive-sounding specificity w/ the JD-Advantage jobs... "THESE ARE THE COOL ONES, NOT THE LAME ONES GUYS!!!" In all seriousness, those are quite impressive JD-advantage gigs though! Harvard continues to lag Chicago on c...

Re: Employment Statistics by School - C/O 2019 rolling out + C/O 2012-2017 data

Northwestern gets such a raw deal in these statistics. This year is -4.7%, but the great outcomes are actually probably UP. That 10% JD/MBA class really skews things, because the Kellogg MBA leads to some very nice gigs. Last year only 8 students went into JD advantage roles. This year it was 21. I...
