Re: July 2018 California Bar Exam

One thing that I learned as a result of the bar: get a fucking hotel within walking distance of the center so I don't have to get there early for parking.

Re: July 2018 California Bar Exam

Still thinking about desert fox’s thread. Do we have any idea how many MBE questions we would need to auto pass? https://one-timers.com/one-timers-bar-exam-calculator/ Just using this as a calculator, if you get 168/200 on the MBE, you can get 40s on everything else and pass 158/200 if you want to ...

Re: July 2018 Themis Prep for UBE

I got an email saying I should "establish a set routine if I have not already done so."

Not sure if this is the email? I'm around 35%. 39% is absolutely insane (although I'm in CA, not UBE)

Re: July 2018 Themis Prep for UBE

My jurisdiction isn't UBE, but the Themis schedule is still messed up. The weekend load is unrealistic, and it scheduled a graded essay on Con Law before I started Con Law... Tell me about it. I did 90 MBE questions, 5 one-hour practice essays, and 2 MBTs this past weekend. I feel like I just wrote...

Re: Columbia EIP 2018

Don't bid on those Houston offices with no FFB. You can pick those up later or try to score those interviews at hospitality suites. This goes double for you because you have no ties to a fairly insular market. Also take out S&C. I've never heard of anyone below a 3.6 getting S&C. Even if they did, ...

Are you going to have that brain injury sorted out? It doesn't make sense to go to law school if you aren't 100% once you get there.

Re: July 2018 Themis Prep for UBE

Anybody else notice that Themis' schedule is totally screwed up? They recommend you do 1.5-2% per day. The problem is they seem to have a really inconsistent definitions of what that entails. For instance, I've noticed that doing 34 MBE questions is considered 0.2% completion. However, I've also not...

Re: Class of 2018 - It's Bar Time Bitches

Themis has us powering right through the weekends; I don't think so, Themis I'm definitely worried about the essays. For now just doing them open book instead of trying to make up the law, but will move on to practicing full-blown BSing at some point I guess +1. MBEs are easymode. Trying to memoriz...

People who have gotten to the property lectures: thoughts on Kramer? I appreciate that he is trying to make property interesting, but if he took out all of the dad jokes he made about drinking water, his lectures would prob be 5%-10% shorter (or cover 5-10% more content).

Re: Columbia Students Taking Questions

2L is not stressful assuming she has a job lined up, etc. Even if it were, it shouldn't stop you from asking her out.

I've also never quite understood the whole taboo against dating other law students, so w/e.

Re: Columbia Students Taking Questions

According to OCS website, c/o of 2019 70 1Ls went to firms, with a class of less than 400 (pre-transfers), that makes it somewhere between 15-20%. I agree that no one should bank on snagging a 1L SA, but it also doesn't mean people should forego applying because they think they wont get it. I know ...

Re: Columbia Students Taking Questions

In threads about 1l SAs, and in this one, people tend to mention diversity programs helping URMs get 1L SA's. Can anyone give a brief description on what those programs are? Is the perception that URMs are more likely to get 1l SAs accurate or more hyperbolic statements from non-URM students. Edit:...

I regularly hit up to 7-8k words on a 3 hour race horse exams.
Never even hit half that.

Re: Columbia Students Taking Questions

15-20% seems high. Even taking that at face value, I would call 15-20% "rare." Finishing in the top 15% of anything during 1L is a huge accomplishment. FWIW the vast majority of 1L SAs I know either had killer 1L grades (kent or very high stone), or got it through diversity programs. If anyone choos...
