Re: Dropping Out and Reapplying

With regard to federal clerkships, you're definitely not out of the running with median grades if you're geographically flexible. Our clerkship office at NYU has very detailed statistics on this, and there are several district courts where the average GPA for clerks is at/below median.

Re: NYU Students/Grads Taking Questions

+1 to the above. Keep in mind that the research and writing assignments in Lawyering are probably the most relevant things you'll do in 1L for developing skills you'll actually use as a lawyer, at least if you litigate. Some people totally write the class off, but there's real value to doing the wor...

Re: Class of 2021: we're basically 1.5Ls now

Hey guys! I posted on reddit, but maybe you guys could help me. I'm taking an elective this semester and there are no past outlines for the class. My professor suggested looking at outlines for when she taught the class under a different name and for a different professor that teaches a similar cla...

Re: NYU Students/Grads Taking Questions

I never used a broker in NYC, I know they're helpful especially if you're on a time crunch, but you can absolutely find a place without one. I think unfortunately 80x is more common than 40x, but that would be your combined income. You can also have a guarantor if you absolutely need one (although ...

Re: UPDATED NYU $$$$ vs Penn $$$$ vs UVA $$$$ vs Duke $$$$ vs Harvard at Sticker

Alright folks. Got an extension and striving for the LSL record of the most unnecessarily long decision thread. Down to Penn and NYU (I think). I've made lots of spreadsheets and done lots of thinking. My thoughts: Pros for NYU: - Clinics, externships, and research groups. NYU wins hands down. 41 t...

Re: NYU VS COLUMBIA (but different than the other times)

I definitely don't. I'm like an 8 hour flight away from New York and I have to let NYU know by Monday. I'm pretty sure I've connected with your fiancé, but it might be time to ask them for advice again! In the end, you're going to a T6 school for nearly free and you're going to be enabled to do wha...

Re: NYU VS COLUMBIA (but different than the other times)

FWIW, I haven't heard raving reviews about the programmatic aspect from my RTK friends, but that's a small sample size. Also, if you're trying to minimize debt, COL around Columbia is cheaper to the tune of $5k+ per year.

Re: NYU Students/Grads Taking Questions

If there are any Vanderbilt scholars or people familiar with the program ITT, could I PM you? I'm trying to get a better sense of the institutional support and programmatic benefits of the scholarship. ETA, since I'm here - 1) How tough is it to get a clinic in the fall of 2L? 2) What are your odds...

Re: NYU Students/Grads Taking Questions

Could anyone please explain the significance of being “affiliated” with a center or institute at the law school? Part of a scholarship that I have seen included the ability to affiliate with such a program before you enroll. It sounds like a play at the concept of “institutional support” in additio...

Re: NYU ($$$$) vs Harvard

I am down between these two schools. NYU with a full ride or Harvard at sticker. Personally, I prefer Boston to New York and I like Harvard's pass/fail grading system. I am interested in pursuing public interest, so obviously, having no tuition is a huge relief . However, I am concerned about the o...

so my financial aid app went from under review to final stage of review in a day. is this normal or is NYU really movin quickly as the cycle comes to an end? i’m just hoping for that aid info before deposit deadlines
This is normal. It's no indicator for how long it will be under review.
