Re: GPA with grade deflation?

To my understanding, admission folks are aware of schools that do this. Folk's opinions that I've seen on whether schools offer any kind of "boost" or how they accommodate vary. Ultimately, your 3.3 is still a 3.3. I hope Spivey can offer you more insight.

Re: Law School Exam/Grading System

Personally, I don't think there is an empirical way to "prove" that one method of assessment is better than another in the context of law school. For example, some contract exams are MC, some are not. There's no reason to doubt that some students would prefer one exam over the other or that certain ...

Re: Law School Exam/Grading System

I think a lot of it has to do with the (in)ability to define a good/great attorney in a qualitative or quantitative way for possible research that would try and answer your question(s). Let alone the politics of whether a school's independent research will be perceived as objective or significant by...

I really miss the "ask a law student" section - It was helpful for current law students to ask questions/discuss topics relating to their specific school
There's a lot of "ask a [insert school] law student" threads but I guess a more generalized space hasn't been created yet (I don't think).

Not sure why DC biglaw is unreasonable given the placement rates duke, uva, even vandy. Mich places better in NY but also well in CA.
You’re not in at any of those schools so this thought exercise is extremely premature.

You're not accepted at Vandy, Duke, UVA, or Michigan? I'm not sure how much help a hypothetical is, in this case, considering you can't reasonably expect to get off the waitlists considering this brutal cycle.

Re: Academia

The article doesn’t stress the school that you attend enough. True, the article target audience is UT students so it assumes the readers can't really change their school. The only line that references the school is: "There is a small sliver of people who have neither a Ph.D nor a VAP/Fellowship who...

Any one else oddly disappointed by the end of their cycle? I've been so invested in this entire process for well over a year now that I'm really struggling to figure out how to set new goals for myself. I've always been the type that needs to be working toward something, and now that it's all said ...

to position myself as a "diverse" person while working in one of the most privileged industries in existence seems really tone deaf. If I were you and I was writing a DS, I wouldn't position myself as a "diverse" person—I'd position my experience as a lady in tech as one that offers a diverse persp...

Don't worry about the age, nobody cares, and yes, don't waste that granny money. If your gut instinct is wrong, you still get to apply earlier in a new cycle that folks expect to be easier than this cycle and you don't have to wonder for the rest of your life if you should've listened to your gut.

Re: Please help me decide

If your gut instinct is that you can do better on an LSAT retake then you should totally retake. More importantly, when you say your folks are covering tuition, do you mean they are paying out of their very hefty bank account or that they are taking on the debt?

The fact that I still haven’t watched Moonligt but watch La la land every other night on HBOGo is usually what gets me exiled in Oscar discussions. Hence, outside of Get Out, Three Billboards, and Dunkirk, I self-exiled myself from most Oscar discussions this year (I’m unworthy). I haven’t watched C...

I pretended to had seen it (simply by not reaveling that indeed I had not seen it) and nodded aimlessly during discussions while I shamelessly spent that opening weekend watching Annihilation—coz Natalie Portman.

I don't have much advice on your decision per se but maybe add COA to your post? Or is that what your folks may cover and hence not in the post? Moreover, again not very helpful, but I think the higher end P.I. will depend more on your performance in whichever school you decide to attend and less on...
