Re: duke, uva, cornell, or retake

Seems like you underperformed your stats a little. I had a slightly lower LSAT and much lower GPA and I'll be graduating from a mid-T14 with only a slightly higher debt load than you're looking at at UVA/Duke/Cornell. But maybe that LSAT flex thing really has things all messed up. I definitely don'...

Re: Should I buy a LSAT Strategy Guide?

Your practice test scores are excellent. Did you take the practice tests timed or untimed? They were timed. I ran out of time on logic games on my first test with 3 questions to go but otherwise my timing was good. These were PrepTests 41-43, though, so maybe I need to take some more recent PrepTes...

You are all far too kind 😭

I've already drafted my LOCI as a coping mechanism. If anyone (especially someone familiar with NYU) would be willing to take a look and make sure it passes the sniff test, would very much appreciate it.

You can pm me for a look.

Re: Baguette Applies to Law School

Rejected by Harvard on March 2nd; Waitlisted by WashU on March 5th (I withdrew; they emailed last week to advise that I probably wouldn't be getting admitted from the waitlist anyway) Waitlisted by UVA on March 16; Waitlisted by NYU a few hours ago. That's my 12th negative decision in a row. Columb...

Is there any information schools have to submit to ABA/LSAC on how their gpa/lsats that were used for admission purpose correlated with their actual gpa in the 1L, 2L, so forth? or, is there same 1L gpa data for for different categories like percentage of STEM majors, grad degrees, age, occupation e...

Wow, thank you for the response everyone! This is super realistic. I do have a follow-on -- is it possible to make the lateral switch from something like BigLaw into in-house counsel in tech? I'm interested in a fairly specific niche in the technology sector (machine learning, cybersecurity, AI) an...

Hi! Kind of a strange question, but I have a quick question about pivoting from a career *in* tech to a career in law school. I was really lucky and able to net roughly 400K+ this year in tech and am having a few second thoughts about whether a legal career is appropriate, primarily because I work ...

Hi all! Decision month is about to begin, I'm starting to feel the pressure, and I could use some advice as I spend the next few weeks figuring out where to go. Re: The official 2021 LSAT study group

Taking next month's April Flex, and I'm at a really tough point - I'm averaging -7 on the whole test and I'm currently working to take those final points off by any means necessary. The big drop mainly comes from RC, with a couple off of LR. LG has been perfected. Anyone else at this stage? Anyone ...

Re: Baguette Applies to Law School

I had similar stats- which is a rarity- and a similar result to what you have now a couple years back (lil bit better GPA, lil bit worse LSAT- not the sparkly 180 but close). I'm not sure I think you should reapply, next year will presumably have more high LSATs with the Flex being the norm from no...

Re: Those who got -2/-0 on RC on an official recent test or were natural at RC, what did you do?

It's relevant for poetry because (without getting into an debate about aesthetics) the sounds of the words are directly relevant to the quality of the work: He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound’s the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake. I wouldn't ...

when you say doing well, how many misses are you referring to in official or in PTs? i think with the new computer-based test, RC has become more difficult than paper, just due to having to read on the computer. but even worse is LG on computer, where one would need to constantly look back and fort...

Re: Those who got -2/-0 on RC on an official recent test or were natural at RC, what did you do?

Nony's experience aligns with mine. I was a social-sciences major in college and I've always read a lot of English-language nonfiction in my spare time. I also don't subvocalize when I read (I know this because I have to consciously do it to analyze poetry etc.). Agree that the Economist is an espe...

Re: Score inflation doomthread / cheer on the end of the LSAT

i thought Flex would make it harder to score higher, due to it being computer based. it was one of the reasons why i avoided it.

this doesn't look like any standardized test anymore. 175+ scorers are now over 1200 instead of ~600 last year.

Re: Those who got -2/-0 on RC on an official recent test or were natural at RC, what did you do?

I went -0 on RC back in the day (which was a while ago). I also found that the section was mostly natural to me - I never did worse than -4 or -5, even at the beginning. The "natural" aspect of RC makes it perhaps the hardest to learn and more challenging for non-native speakers. That said, my obse...

Re: Score inflation doomthread / cheer on the end of the LSAT

hopefully applications going up is a result of covid. to make sure, this isn't intended explain the rise in high scorer percentage? the % change in test takers is 19.3% but the 170+ scorer increase is disproportionate. iirc a few years ago there used to be ~30k test takers in every administration (...

Re: Score inflation doomthread / cheer on the end of the LSAT

LSAC finally released score data for 2020 (link opens PDF; see page 4): https://report.lsac.org/VolumeSummaryOriginalFormat.aspx?Format=PDF wow 50% increase in 170-174 and whopping 95% in 175-180. so much for standardization of the test. any reason why they're not getting the curve right for Flex? ...

I'm a planned retaker for the November flex, and I am looking to start a study group for retakers and for first-timers.
