Re: 1 Year Masters Program - Can I Still Get Into Law School?

Re undergrad prestige: The only real numbers that matter to law schools are your GPA and your LSAT score. Your undergrad program's prestige/ranking may help on the very end of the margins (e.g., tiebreaker between you and an applicant with identical numbers), but not so much that you should really w...

Re: JD + PhD at another university.

Calling in Nony.

Clarifying question: are you trying to do a PhD in law on top of your JD, or a PhD in another subject entirely? I'm guessing the former since you mentioned Yale's program, but folks with your question often are trying to pair up other subjects with law, so want to confirm.

Re: Cornell ($) v USC ($$$) for Entertainment Law

Well I missed the work visa bit too, but I still feel like Cornell is pretty much going to ice your entertainment law dreams. It won't be impossible but it's still literally the opposite direction of what you want. So I guess you need to decide how comfortable you are with risking not finding a job ...

Ok to have unicorn goals. Just good to know they are unicorn and be thinking smart about getting there. Glad you asked about Cornell vs USC.

Re: Cornell ($) v USC ($$$) for Entertainment Law

"no option to retake" is false, unless your hands fell off, seeing as you can take the LSAT an unlimited number of times. USC is fine for your goals, but I understand landing a gig in entertainment law is pretty difficult, and you'll be competing with some classmates seeking the same. Do not go to ...

Re: 1L Internship Abroad or RA?

Go to HK or Singapore. Definitely more valued than being an RA for the summer. Thanks! How applicable/transferable do you think the skills are in HK or Singapore as opposed to a RA position? The issue I see is that one of them was tdone abroad, albeit in a common law place and within an internation...

In with 3.79/175. It looks like 3.7+/174+ is the magic ticket this year.
Congrats, but this is a random thread to share this in. Isn't there a general Harvard 2018-19 cycle thread?

Re: MBE Curve

It means you don't know how many questions you had to answer correctly to pass. The number moves depending on how relatively difficult a test was compared to previous tests, which is calculated through equating. Equating is basically a fancy statistical process to compare tests. It doesn't necessari...

Re: UVA $$ vs WUSTL $$$$

Is your SO going to be working? Will your SO have good job opportunities there? I raise this because of the potential risk of having to take out more money than expected once you get there and are established. And you won't be able to change your mind at beginning of 2L year.

Just to clarify, you say $100k debt in tuition alone for UVA. How much more do you estimate your COL costs to be? And will those costs be debt financed?

Re: Picking a Practice Group for 2L Summer

I'm assuming your firm will let you take assignments from any practice group. If so, I don't think you should stress about your preferences too much and instead you should try to get exposed to any group you're interested in during the summer. That will inform your decision a lot more than whatever ...

Re: Lots of Fulls VS HYS

It's not like you're picking between Harvard and Cooley here dude. Law schools are largely interchangeable, especially when comparing schools in the same large band of rankings (T1, T2, etc). It's not wildly different school to school, and at least not different enough to justifying turning your nos...

Re: Lots of Fulls VS HYS

Why deplete your savings? That money will be something you wish you had when you become a PI attorney. To avoid using PSLF-integrated LRAPs at those schools, probably Otherwise you’re taking about paying back the CoL loans on a standard repayment plan, which will deplete your savings with interest ...

Got offered a Hamilton at Columbia but really want Harvard. Interviewed in November and missed two JS2 waves.
