Re: 2019 TX 1L SA Thread

Two interview invites in Dallas thus far. Just anecdotally, Dallas offices have been much slower getting back to people than their Houston counterparts.

Re: 2019 TX 1L SA Thread

I had a friend ask me about Houston receptions for firms. I work for a boutique and have no clue. Anybody know how to score an invite to one? Or where to find a list? I was invited to them after applying (I assume the firms that do host these invite all of their applicants), and I believe some firm...

2019 TX 1L SA Thread

12/1 is coming. I keep "productively procrastinating" and drafting cover letters instead of focusing on my memo.

Re: Trajectory for judgeships?

Know the district judges well. Moreover, try and be courteous with everyone you work with and don't make enemies. In my district, there is a panel that vets applicants for magistrate judge position, and it isn't solely comprised of D. Court judges. In years past, the district clerk, members of the ...

Although I saw this case briefly talked about on the "SCOTUS and other big cases" thread, I would like to dedicate this thread to this case. I encourage everyone to please read the opinion of the court as well as the concurring and dissenting (Link below). This way, there will be no confusion as to...

Is there no Class of 2022 thread yet for us reapplicants? I'm very happy to see you are reapplying. I'm predicting a KILLER cycle. Might still be 2021 if CCN want to surprise me with money off the WL, but 90% reapplying. Ditto on being super happy to see that you are reapplying! add me to the categ...

What has the orientation schedule looked like in years past? Are there events on the weekend of orientation? I’m trying to decide if I need to turn down an invite on that Saturday.

Is the student sports pass worth it? It would be cool to go to a couple of games, but my understanding is that you can usually snag tickets the day of for a reasonable price, and I don't know if I would go to enough events to warrant paying $175 or whatever it is now.

I’m going to assume this is a troll. In the off chance that it isn’t, OP should check this out https://trialbyagreement.com I don't think OP is a troll. He is just really really new to this. Not everyone gets to work at Susman Godfrey, an elite litigation boutique, before law school, and not everyo...

I am hoping to apply for law school in the upcoming cycle, for entry in Fall 2019. I am not prepared as I am, as I have recently committed to applying. Do you think, with enough studying, I can improve my LSAT score to be competitive for the upcoming cycle? I know it's best to apply as early as pos...

Re: Vanderbilt or Georgetown for BigLaw

Without a geographic preference, I think they will get you roughly equal outcomes, so it is a matter of preference and money. I will agree that Vanderbilt's BL numbers are a little inflated because they dominate 100+ lawyer, non-market firms in places like Nashville, Louisville, Alabama, and Atlanta...

I really enjoyed the Trainer. I used it to self-study after taking a course, and I found that the approaches used in the Trainer helped me break out of a lot of plateaus. I particularly enjoyed the way that LR problems are framed in terms of their logical flaws. This way of thinking about the questi...

Re: Stuck at 166-168

Don't be afraid to test out a new methodology. Try the 7sage videos and the LSAT Trainer. I struggled with speed in LG because I was trying to "master" every game. That time deficit caused me to consistently struggle, and I went -5 on an easy games section last June. I started using the Trainer and ...

Yeah, I live in Austin and definitely not UT Law School. It’s pretty ugly overall. The building that is. But the campus is very pretty. I haven’t visited any other law schools so don’t know which is the prettiest. UT’s exterior isn’t bad, but the interior looks like it has needed a facelift for the...

Any current students foresee an issue with living in the East Riverside area? The only kicker is t...
