It has been nearly three decades since I was at MCRD San Diego. I am glad to see this news.

Re: Anyone here who left a safe/golden-handcuffs career?

The money was not dramatically different. In part this was because I was with a government agency that was on a different pay scale than most. The biggest driver in making the change was that most orgs (government and otherwise) were moving more and more of their IT efforts to cloud companies. Given...

Re: Anyone here who left a safe/golden-handcuffs career?

I left a very safe position as with the federal government to take a role with a cloud services company. It was an interesting experience, and I made a bit more money in the short run, but it is significantly muted when considering what I would have received in retirement benefits. After about a yea...

From memory, these numbers would position you very well in these areas historically. A word of caution, I have seen reports that this year has been a bonkers year, with a spike of high scoring applicants in the system compared to recent years.I would suggest taking a look at some of the Spivey blog ...

Re: PSA for 2021-22 Applicants: Avoid Notre Dame Like the Plague

This does sound messed up.

If I had been accepted at a school that I had applied to and they told me I was out of luck later on the same day I would have been pissed. I am glad that people are drawing attention this for future applicants.

Thank you for the advice. What law school did you attend?
I attended the hybrid online program at Mitchell Hamline.

Re: CUNY Law vs New York Law School

I went to a part-time program while keeping working full time on the career path I had been on for many years. When I started down this path, I had no intent of making a major career plan, instead I was looking to alter the path that I was already on. The common advise is that this is a losing propo...

Outside of HYS, no one will care. Law schools are ranked on what your GPA is not on if your schools grades are a joke.

I think you are referring to the ABA 509 report.

A consulting firm that works with people wanting assistance with the law school application process, Spivey Consulting, has a link to a spreadsheet that has 509 data.

According to Wikipedia, Biden graduated in the bottom 10 of his law school class, but it seems that he was able to string together a reasonable career.

Re: Anyone from engineering career here considering law school?

I come from an IT/ InfoSec background.

I opted to go to law school largely out of frustration. To many times I have seem attorneys and tech geeks fail to find common ground. As best as I can tell, few people that I know have gone down this path.

Re: SCOTUS and Other Big Cases

So, help me out here. What we have learned in the tax case is that no future administration ever needs to respond to any request made by congress or anyone else. All they need to do is find the dumbest attorney available, have them scrawl some completely unsupported bullshit in crayon and submit tha...

I applied to law school having completed a masters from thenUnited States). My observation is that it seemed to make little to no difference in the breakdown for acceptance/rejections.

I suspect that a masters from the UK would be similar.

I pondered law school for ~4 years before enrolling.

I am now, and was at the time that I seriously starting thinking about law school, married and with a child.

I agree with pancake, but then I may be biased because I did not start law school until I was in my 40s.

Re: April 2020 LSAT Cancelled - May exam added to take AT HOME

I think that as summer approaches, there will be a real concern about additional waves of coronavirus spread, especially if we see Wuhun have problems after they try to return to normal. If so, holding an exam bringing thousands of people together in person for multiple days in September may not see...

Hi all, thank you for your responses so far. I am majoring in philosophy at a t30 school, so I'm not sure if my school will make up for my choice of major. I am mostly wondering if it is worth applying this cycle (c/o 2024) with the *plan* of deferring a year (to c/o 2025) but the *option* of matri...

Much as my previous advice, I recommend asking on the Spivey thread because he and his team have actually worked in law school admissions. He has...
