Re: Fourth Interview over three and half months

I got a verbal offer today.

The money is not great, but I had anticipated that would be the case. I think the work would be interesting. I will be talking this over with my family through he holiday weekend.

Re: CS career megathread / AMA

Off the top of my head the reasons that I think that (b) would not apply to the offer letter.

* You are not currently an employee of the company that has offered you a job.

* The wages discussed in the offer letter are just that an offer, not your actual wages.

i'd just follow the nda, though an nda doesn't normally cover an offer letter.

i don't think that statute can be read to apply to job offers

Re: CS career megathread / AMA

It is a small world, if you do opt to leave and take a new position, there is a good chance that your former employer would find out at some point where you have gone. But I would be less bothered about the old employer figuring this out after I had already started the new gig than I would be before...

Re: CS career megathread / AMA

I agree with effdee, unless there is something in the letter itself or some specific agreement in your negotiations to this point there should not be any confidentiality. If you do hand it over, I hope that your existing company does not use it to cause you headaches. Even if it is only a small chan...

Re: CS career megathread / AMA

I doubt that there is any legal obligation not to share the offer letter. But if you step back for a moment, I question what value there is in providing it. Unless you are super happy with your current job I would advise you to think long and hard about staying. If nothing else, they are clearly tel...

Re: Fourth Interview over three and half months

That is a very good point. I have been very fortunate in my career that only a few times in thirty years have I been in a situation where I did not have some type of income coming in when I was searching for work. Most of that was shortly after I had gotten out of the military. The last time was aro...

Re: Fourth Interview over three and half months

The interview yesterday was informative. I think that Story is right about this potentially being a budget concern, at least in part. As I understand it the firm is only a few years old and has been growing quite a bit, but they want to make sure that they do not get ahead of themselves. I gather th...

Re: Fourth Interview over three and half months

interesting, I had not thought of it in that way. As best as I can tell, not a lot of companies keep counsel on hand specifically for incident response. Some seem to have privacy attorneys who will step in and join an incident response team when something big occurs. Perhaps this will change in the ...

Fourth Interview over three and half months

Tomorrow I have my fourth interview with a small firm (less than 20 attorneys), along with many email exchanges over three and a half months. As I understand it, the position in question is incident response attorney. They are looking for someone to work with clients, and often a clients insurance f...

Yes, it is a not for profit. Most weeks I am usually close to 45 hours, although from time to time the hours can spike considerably.

Congrats on the new role with fb app!

This stinks.

If there is no other reasonable way to salvage the legal writing grade, I would strongly lean towards thanking the leave.

Re: 156, 3.23 - Apply Part Time or Retake?

I was a non-traditional student who got their JD from a part-time program. I started law school in my early 40s. I had attended 10 colleges before earning a BS, I then picked up a masters before I decided to go to law school. I agree with the advice to retake. After I had a poor performance on the L...

My current role is with a credit union. Re: CS career megathread / AMA

I took my current job almost a year ago on the promise that once my bar membership became final it would be a dual hat role (director of security stuff and in-house counsel). On the bright side, they “promoted” me as promised, but within a month of the promotion the CEO changed his mind. It seems th...

Re: Please give me feedback on my personal statement

I agree with ymmv, this seems to cover the ground that you need for a statement. I had Grammarly turned on when I reviewed this in Google Docs and there were only 7 items that it flagged none of it worth getting excited about. For what it is worth this is the advice provided by the software: 1. gun ...

Re: GPA Calculation in Transfer Stats

If memory serves the GPA reported on the 509 forms is not based on the GPAs issues from the schools, it is calculated based on how LSAC calculates your GPA from the transcripts that you submit to them as part of the application process.

Hmmm, perhaps the Russians are unhappy with the way Columbia is processing their apps as well.

Given how well they are connected to the former president and most of the GOP you would think they would have some leverage here.
