Re: July 2018 California Bar Exam

I felt much more comfortable pointing out the bullshit of the CBE after it was revealed they'd stopped counting those who didn't finish the exam. And most lawyers think the bar exam is b.s. too. The fact that California takers routinely have the highest scores on the MBE, but the highest failure ri...

I submitted my app last October. They're still sending shit out to my references. I think that they hit up my last one about three weeks ago though.

I think the bar is sending out those reference forms on a staggered scheduled. I don't know why. Same thing happened to me.

Re: Question about Moral Character application, California.

Well last week I got written notification that my moral character application was approved :) Here's my timeline: 1. Early December: Submitted C&F application. 2. Mid March: Received automated email stating "file complete". 3. Early May: Called Bar association to see what's up. Was told nothing, jus...

Re: July 2018 California Bar Exam

Well, results are out and here I am. Still waiting for the scores in the mail but I assume I didn't score a 150+ on the MBE so here's my question: what is a good source to study for the MBE? I feel like they are introducing a lot of new tested topics (eg: real property fair housing, brokerage, etc....

Re: February 2018 CA Bar Exam

All these essay grading anomalies just reinforces my belief that test takers should heavily weigh their review on the part of the test that they can control, which is the MBE. Of course, I am not saying not to review essays. Definitely study for the essay portion. But also keep in mind that there is...

Re: Adaptibar Question and Waiting on CA Results

70%+ on Adaptibar is a good indication of passing. I got 72% on Adaptibar last Summer and passed July 2017. I definitely hope so. I wonder if we should just look at the overall Adaptibar score or "adjust" it to give each subject the same weight (like on the exam). I focused more on the subject I wa...

Congrats to all those who passed.Keep you head up for those that didn't make it this time around. I failed the CBX 7 times...passed on my 8th. So yes it can be done. On another note, one of my law school profs correctly predicted a sub 30% passage rate. He suspects that the CA bar didn't like too ma...

Re: Strong MBE = AUTO bar pass

someone failed with a 153 MBE here in PA this year In Feb 2016 I failed the CA bar with a 150 MBE. Back then, the MBE was only worth 33%. But, I passed the exam in July 2017 (MBE now worth 50%). I know I scored at least a 150 again because I got an NCBE report saying I could waive into North Dakota...

I highly recommend using Adaptibar.com for your MBE review. It helped me pass after failing numerous times.

Send me your email address if you would like a discount for that program.

CA Bar not liking examinees passing on strong MBE score?

I was chatting with my former law professor this morning, and she said there is some chatter that the bar assoc is looking at the number of examinees who pass the exam based on extra high MBE scores. Apparently they are not fond of people passing with low essays and high MBE?? Anyone have any insigh...

Re: February 2018 CA Bar Exam

It took me 16 years to pass the CA bar. Obviously you don't want to follow my path...just do your best to pass ASAP. But life happens, and if things get in the way, put things in perspective. There's people out there risking death to arrive to a country where they can make less than minimum wage. So...

(In the spirit of full disclosure, I also posted this on the other site..) Re: Strong MBE = AUTO bar pass

To date, I've done 1400 adaptibar questions with a 82.3% average. Over the last month (~800 questions), I've had a 85.5% average. How good are my chances at passing the Cal Bar this month? That's a very good percentage...you have higher percentages than I did, and I passed last Summer in CA. I thin...

Re: Strong MBE = AUTO bar pass

Or at least almost definitely a bar pass. Note, this is only true for states that don't have a minimum score for written parts, and only true for states with a 50% MBE. 40% or lower, MBE is still huge but it's harder to pass by just MBE. Lets take Illinois for example. You need 264 points to pass a...

Speaking of essays, how do you guys know which issues to talk about? do you have your own checklists or another technique? What's your method? Damn essays.
I used acronyms to memorize the key issues. I forgot what they are now though.

What were the other answer choices by the way? I have a feeling one of the answer choices may have mentioned detrimental reliance because of this line: "The contractor spent time and money in preparing his bid." I think that's a trap answer if it was indeed listed as a choice. Exactly, one mentione...
