Lawcrossing is basically just marketing copy. Worse than useless.

The articles lied to you, Indecision. You can still be a summer associate in big law in your late 30s if that's what you want.

Nah, nobody gives a shit. I think that's a "back in the day" thing with law firms but isn't the case anymore.

Nope, my V30 absolutely hires new associates in their 30s. I work closely with two associate who were in their mid or late 30s when they graduated law school, and my summer associate mentee was in their 30s as well. It will not be a thing at all.

Not that I know of. I actually think being older and married tends to slightly help you in getting hired and even promoted. Based on purely anecdotal evidence. I don’t have stats or anything.

As others said, don’t make it a thing and it won’t be a thing.

the only way age will be a factor in your hiring is if you're going to be weird and self conscious about it during your screener/callback. being 35 will not preclude you from being chained to a computer and being farmed for billables just the same as a 24 y/o KJD.

It’s not a real issue. Don’t act like you wouldn’t be able to work for someone younger than you, or like you think you should be able to move ahead more quickly by virtue of your age, and you’ll be fine.

I was hired as a 35+ prospective big law hire. I have no idea if my age/experience helped or hurt me, but it worked out for me.

Hello,

I am not sure if this is universal. I have read a number of articles that suggested Large (big Law) tend to avoid hiring older new attorneys (Older meaning 35+). Is there any truth to this? Does anyone have any experience that they can speak of?
I've read that many recruiters tell people this because older new attorneys have family and other responsibilities, however, I'm single with no children,

I'm studying for the LSAT currently, I'm 33, I will be 35 if I actually admit to a Law School.
